TASTE IT TUESDAY: TASTING JAPAN

This appears to be a fish cookie…or cracker?

Not sure why this is in a fish shape, but we have Goldfish crackers, so no judgement. It’s a very light wafer with some light and airy chocolate on the back. Delish!

These appear to be seaweed strips?

Seaweed was a big NOPE for Destiny. But Clare thought it was savory and good.

Clare and Destiny wish they know what these were called. “Buzz Lightyear Cookies: The flavor strawberry and BEYOND!?”

Whatever they are called, they are cute and yummy–strawberry flavored!

These look like little sandwich cookies, but there’s a picture of something chunky and white to describe the flavor…is it cheese?! Even after tasting them we’re not 100% sure they’re not.

Chocolate cookies with chocolate chips? Yes, please! These were tasty.

Clare got to work very carefully drawing a bottle of glue–because she’s the glue that holds us together!

Eric pitched in a quote from Dr. Seuss that gave the card the perfect personalized finishing touch!

Destiny delivered the card and Loretta LOVED it! She sent us this picture. We thought she was saying “rock and roll!” But this is the symbol for “love.” Awww!

“Crunch Snap Pea Popcorn Salad” from Food Network features all of your salad favorites: a mayonnaise dressing, crunchy sugar snap peas, celery…and POPCORN?! It’s strange on paper and frankly, kinda blah in our mouths. No one hated it. But no one loved it.

“Why would someone do this to popcorn!?”

“Banana Peel Bacon” is a new vegan treat. You marinate the banana peel in a soy sauce, maple syrup, paprika, and garlic powder mixture for about 2 hours. Cook in oil and viola! It’s sort of bacon, but sweet like banana. It was a big nope from Eric and Destiny, but Clare liked it.

A brand new product caught our eye: “Johnsonville Sausage Strips.” That sausage taste with the fun shape of bacon! This was a bit of a let down. We expected to love this, but it mostly tastes like dry sausage.

WE FIXED TASTE IT TUESDAY! If you combine bits of sausage strips into the popcorn salad, you get something that’s a vast improvement on what they were separately.

Before hosting Time For Art with United Way of East Central Iowa, Eric found a stairway perfect for “senior picture” posing!

Clare challenged her hubby Nick to a little game of chess even though she’s never played and has only seen “The Queen’s Gambit.”

After a long weekend of spring cleaning, Destiny finally sat down to relax by the fire.

TASTE IT TUESDAY: COFFEE AND POP

Coke with Coffee has the sweetness of coke, but with a bitter coffee aftertaste. It wasn’t the best thing we’ve ever tried, but certainly not the worst.

Destiny was excited to add Root Beer to coffee. The coffee and the Root Beer managed to both taste watered down. Yuck.

Clare thought the 23 flavors of Dr Pepper would be delightful in coffee. Turns out Dr Pepper was right to stop at 23; adding the 24th flavor of coffee was not great.

Eric chose to have us try ‘Mt. Dew Major Melon’ in our coffee. It was VERY not good.

Eric and his wife Shannon said ‘Cheers’ to 25 years with, perhaps, the world’s largest gin and tonic!

Clare did a little “retail therapy” this weekend. Don’t worry, she and her kids were yelled at for trying on hats right after this photo was taken.

Destiny and her sisters got together for game night this weekend. Destiny had to draw a person, activity, and location. Any guesses what those are? If you can’t tell… Destiny is horrible at drawing.
